Terms of Use

The agreement for using Flash and Flash Unlimited: what is free, how subscriptions renew and cancel, and what stays yours.

Last updated: 28 September 2026

In plain words. Flash is free to use with a limit on the number of cards. Flash Unlimited removes the limit and is sold as a subscription through Apple. Subscriptions renew until you cancel them in your Apple ID settings. Your decks are yours and stay on your device.

The agreement

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and AlleyApp (KVK 75853663, the Netherlands) about your use of the Flash app. By installing or using Flash you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

Your licence to use Flash

Flash is licensed to you, not sold. Your licence is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which these Terms supplement. Where the two conflict, Apple's agreement prevails for anything concerning the App Store.

Free and Flash Unlimited

The free tier is a complete app: every card in it is scheduled and reviewed exactly as in the paid tier, with no limit on daily reviews. It holds up to 100 cards across your decks and includes the Progress overview.

Flash Unlimited removes the card limit and opens the detailed progress pages. If an Unlimited subscription ends, nothing is taken away: every card and every review stays, and you can keep studying all of it. You will only be unable to add cards beyond the free limit until you subscribe again.

Subscriptions and billing

Flash Unlimited is offered as a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you confirm.

Subscriptions belong to your Apple ID, not to a device or to an account with us. On a new device, use Restore purchases in the app.

Refunds

Because purchases are processed by Apple, refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We are unable to issue refunds ourselves.

Your content

Everything you put into Flash — cards, notes, imported decks — remains yours. We claim no rights to it, and because it is stored only on your device, we have no access to it. You are responsible for keeping backups (see the Privacy Policy) and for making sure you have the right to use any material you import.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to circumvent the card limit or the purchase system, reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows it, or use Flash in a way that breaks the law or Apple's App Store terms.

Changes to the app

We improve Flash continuously and may add, change or remove features. We will not remove access to study material you already have. If we ever discontinue Flash, the app will keep working offline on your device for as long as your operating system supports it, and any active subscription will not be renewed.

Warranties and liability

Flash is provided “as is”. We do our best to make it reliable, but we do not promise that it will be error-free or that any particular learning result will follow from using it. To the extent permitted by law, AlleyApp is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data you have not backed up. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by contract.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you may bring a dispute before the courts of that country. The European Commission's online dispute resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Material changes that affect an active subscription will be communicated through the App Store or in the app before they take effect.
